Cammi Louisa is a photographer, designer, multimedia artist, and storyteller. the rawness in her work describes a the bizarre relationship between what is macabre and what is beautiful. often grotesque images of human bodies cut and pasted in warped collage form are juxtaposed with recurring photos of roses — a symbol of the beauty and femininity that grounds her in a world that is often more like the former under its seductive veneers of ‘false beauty’. political and religious themes past and present are displayed omnipresent yet obscured among photos of her friends and family whose true beauty is captured in a romantic haze, a clear frustration and detachment with the structures and powers that be, which only strengthens her bonds with her peers. having relocated to berlin, cammi’s work has recently been touched with a sense of paranoia. her concerns now are around world security and the suffocation of privacy and personal liberties.
